Help & FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most often — what FinStitch is, how to connect and track your accounts, how your net worth is calculated, and how to manage your plan, security and privacy. If you can’t find what you need here, you can always reach us from the app.
Getting started
What is FinStitch?
FinStitch brings your whole financial life into one place — investments, property, pensions, cash, crypto and liabilities — and turns it into your true net worth, your real allocation, and a clear path to financial independence. It's a wealth tracker and planning tool built for every stage, from your first ISA to life after FIRE.
Who is it for?
Anyone whose money lives in more than one place. Young professionals building the saving habit and aiming at FIRE; investors and high earners juggling many accounts who need their true allocation; people who've already reached financial independence and want to see exactly where their wealth sits; and expats whose money is split across countries, brokers and currencies.
Which platforms is FinStitch available on?
FinStitch runs on iOS, Android and the web. Your data stays in sync across every device you sign in on.
Do I need to connect anything to get started?
No. You can add accounts manually and start tracking straight away — enter cash balances, holdings, property values, pensions or liabilities by hand. When you're ready, you can connect supported accounts so their values update automatically. Manual and connected accounts sit side by side in the same net-worth view.
Connecting your accounts
Do I have to connect my bank account?
No. FinStitch never asks for bank logins. You can sync supported brokers in read-only mode, and add everything else — property, pensions, cash, crypto, liabilities — manually. Direct bank connections via open banking are on our roadmap for a later release.
Which brokers can I sync?
Trading 212 syncs automatically today, pulling holdings, day-change and dividends. More brokers — Interactive Brokers, Vanguard and others — are planned. Anything not yet supported can be tracked with manual holdings.
Is access to my connected accounts read-only?
Yes. FinStitch connects to your accounts read-only — it can read balances and holdings to calculate your net worth, and nothing more. It can never place trades, make payments, or move money in or out of your accounts.
How do I disconnect an account?
Open the account or connection in your settings and choose to disconnect. Disconnecting revokes FinStitch's access to that account. You can also revoke access from your bank or provider where they support it.
Your net worth & data
How does multi-currency work?
Hold assets in any currency. You set one base currency, and FinStitch converts everything using live FX rates so your net worth, allocation and gains are always shown in one consistent unit — with no drift between the sum of your accounts and the displayed total, and a currency-allocation view to reveal your true exposure.
How is my net worth calculated?
Your net worth is the total value of your assets minus your liabilities, across every account you track. Values held in different currencies are converted to your chosen display currency, and property values and liabilities such as mortgages and loans are included so the figure reflects your whole position.
How often do values update?
Holdings and prices for connected accounts refresh periodically. Manual accounts update whenever you edit them, so it's worth keeping manual balances and valuations current for the most accurate picture.
Can I choose my currency?
Yes. You can set your display currency in Settings, and FinStitch converts account values into it for a single, consistent net-worth figure.
Why might a value look off?
A value can look different from what you expect for a few ordinary reasons: a price refresh is still pending, so a holding hasn't updated yet; currency conversion (FX) is being applied to a foreign-currency holding; or a manual account value needs updating to reflect a recent change.
Planning tools
Is FinStitch financial advice?
No. FinStitch is a software and decision-support tool — not a regulated adviser, broker or bank. Every projection shows its assumptions and leaves the decision to you. We never tell you which investments to buy or sell, and we never move your money.
What planning tools does FinStitch offer?
Alongside net-worth tracking, FinStitch includes planning views to help you understand your finances — including FIRE (financial independence) planning, goals, tax estimates, and income and spending views. Figures shown in these tools are estimates based on the data available and general assumptions; they are for information only and are not financial, tax or investment advice.
Security
Is my data secure?
Broker API keys are encrypted with AWS KMS, sign-in uses Amazon Cognito with multi-factor authentication, and every connection is read-only — we can see balances, never move money. You can have all of your data permanently deleted at any time, and you hold full data rights under GDPR.
What if I lose my device?
Sign in on another device and, from Settings, sign out of your other sessions and manage your devices to remove the one you've lost. Because access is read-only and your sign-in is protected, no one can move money using FinStitch. You can also add extra protection with optional two-factor authentication and passkeys.
Plans & billing
How much does it cost?
FinStitch is in private beta. Join the waitlist for early access — it's free for our first members, and we'll share simple, honest pricing before any paid plans go live.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
FinStitch has a free tier plus paid plans that unlock additional features. You can see the current plans, and manage or cancel your subscription, from the Plans screen in the app. Billing is handled through whichever channel you signed up with — the app store or web checkout — so cancellations and changes are managed there. For our refund policy, see the Refund Policy.
Privacy & your data
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can export your data from Settings as JSON or Excel, so it's yours to keep or take elsewhere.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. You can delete your account from Settings. Deletion permanently erases your data. For details on what happens and how long anything is retained, see our Data Retention Policy and GDPR & Your Rights page.
How do I manage marketing emails and cookie preferences?
You can manage your choices under Settings → Privacy & consent, and every marketing email also includes an unsubscribe link. For the full picture of how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
